Guild's new 40 Standard Series introduces the new Vintage Gloss nitro finish. This all-new finish is an ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer with both satin and gloss qualities that highlight the natural beauty of the tonewoods.

With an even smoother texture than a nitro satin finish, the Vintage Gloss features a hand-sprayed soft, silky coating that gives each guitar a worn-in vintage feel and tone, with a modern sleek appearance.

Scalloped Adirondack Spruce Bracing

Guild adds forward-shifted scalloped Adirondack bracing for power, nuance and responsiveness. Combined with a Sitka Spruce Top and African Mahogany back and sides, this bracing provides a punchy tone with smooth top end.

This new iteration of the D-40 Standard provides the ultimate dreadnought sound. With it's solid Sitka Spruce top with solid African Mahogany back and sides, the D-40 Standard serves up remarkable volume, clarity, and sustain that's perfect for anything from vocal accompaniment to solo work, and many other "unplugged" applications. The D-40 Standard manifests vintage charm with timeless appointments such as a tortoiseshell celluloid pickguard, white ABS binding, and Guild's peak logo inlay on the headstock.

Indian Rosewood Fingerboard and Bridge

An Indian Rosewood fingerboard caps that comfortable C-profile Mahogany neck. Premium materials such as an Indian Rosewood bridge, 20:1 open-gear tuners, and a hand-cut bone nut and saddle finish off the D-40 Standard.

Available in Natural and New Pacific Sunset Burst Finish Options

In addition to the classic Natural finish, Guild's new 40 Standard Series debuts the new Pacific Sunset Burst. Inspired by Guild's Southern California home, this new finish embodies casual elegance with a subtle edge burst. Each D-40 Standard ships with a Guild archtop wood case with built-in Humicase humidification system.
