The extra weight at the bottom of the cup helps provide power and projection, especially in the low register. The thinner cup walls help create an improved responsiveness at all dynamic levels. The result is a mouthpiece which is quick to respond and which brings out the upper partials in the sound, creating clear and brilliant high notes. The widest mouthpieces are also the most shallow and, conversely, the mouthpieces with the smallest cup diameters are the deepest. Heritage Tenor Horn mouthpieces will give a warm sound with plenty of 'bloom' in it, an easy high register and powerful low notes.
